Increased deduction for investments in sustainable mobility from 2025

From 2025, a new bill will be introduced for Belgian companies investing in renewable energy. Companies and self-employed people who invest in renewable energy will have the opportunity to claim an increased investment deduction. Although these regulations already existed, from 2025 they will be further extended for investment in sustainable mobility.

It must be to a new investment that will be used exclusively for professional purposes. The purchase of an electric passenger car that will also be used privately is not eligible for the deduction.

The investment deduction applies to

  • Self-employed and sole traders
  • Liberal professions (doctors, lawyers,...), civil servants and other gainful occupations.

It should be a sustainable investment in:

  • Emission-free modes of transport such as e.g. electric vans and trucks.

The thematic deduction rate is:

  • 40% for SMEs and the self-employed
  • 30% for larger companies
